Great food and amazing experience! We are Italian ourselves and it is hard to find authentic food, but this place hits the nail on our head! Natasha was our server, she was lovely, helpful, and gracious! I would highly recommend this place.
Service was good. Food was ok and a bit pricey. But its Vail....
Owner was visible drunk and extremely unprofessional Friday night. He was very uncomfortable to be around and was calling other customer's "douchebags" under his breath... He also said to a customer "do you know who I am?" the customer replied the owner's name... the owner proceeded to say "That's right you know who I am, and no one know's who you are". I don't care who you are... you never treat anyone this way nor should anyone be this conceited/arrogant. Especially when the restaurant wasn't even ready for him at his designated reservation time. That also being said.. my family waited over 20 minutes to be seated even though we had placed a reservation weeks ahead of time.I would consider recommending a friend here if the man owner was no longer in the picture.
The pizza is excellent. I would rate the restaurant higher if it weren't for the snooty staff. But in general I've found most Vail residents think rather highly of themselves.
Dinner with big group was fantastic. Tried the osso buco, fantastic. Oh, and the gin martini was perfect. Highly recommend.
Cody and warm atmosphere. Pleasant staff. Food is mediocre (in my humble opinion). Please note that I am vegetarian and try only vegetarian options. I give it 4 stars because both salad and the pizza were not the best and certainly disappointing for the place. But it was ok.
How disappointing. Many great reviews led us from Beaver Creek Resort to Vail to dine at La Botega. Staff was friendly...food was horrible. My wife had shrimp with crab over linguini. Bland at best. I ordered the 20 ounce medium RARE. Food arrived and my steak was basically well done and looked like a very cheap cut of rib eye, if indeed it was a rib eye. Got our waiters attention and he was gracious and apologized and had a properly cooked one out as quick as could be expected. I'm not completely convinced this was meat from a cow. Odd color for beef and sinewy. I ate about 1/4 of it and had our waiter throw the rest away. Not sure how this place gets such great ratings but for me...it was a BIG disappointment. Would never go back and surely would never reccomend it to anyone.
Flavorless wanna be Italian food! Very disappointed! Had the Linguini special with clams, shrimp, crab, sundries tomatoes and it was tasteless! The crab was shredded which was tasteless, no garlic, no lemon just butter and oil , no white wine, just an expensive flavorless meal! And I got charged extra for the clams! Who makes an Italian seafood meal without white wine, garlic and lemon juice? I guess they do 🤬
A great place for good Italian wines. Even wind by the glass selection is reasonable. Tried its recommended brick oven pizza. It is just ok, soggy once plated. Friendly service. Quite bustling during the snow seasons. Rsvp recommended.
Delicious steak sandwiches and delicious Italian pasta.
From being seated to dinner served took an hour. The clam linguine was mild, but the sole exceptional.
The best Gnocchi ever!
Great food. Great service.
I love the spaghetti 🍝
Duck and gnocchi very good
We dropped in for an early dinner on a Sunday night and our party of five were seated quickly. We started with a pepperoni pizza and friend calamari, both of which were delicious. The calamari also included some large fried shrimp and we enjoyed them so much, we ordered another while we waited for our entrees. We shared a few items like the Kobe beef steak sandwich, the lobster ravioli, and spaghetti and meatballs. Not a single thing was left on the plates after our group made short work of the amazing offerings. For dessert, the creme brûlée, tiramisu, and profiteroles made their way to the table but quickly disappeared. The service was exceptional, the food incredible, and the whole experience was top notch. La Bottega is a great stop for great Italian.
Great food and service. Overall would love to go back!
Hair in the spaghetti and meatballs. Really big hair. When I sent it back the owner banned me from the restaurant, said never to set foot again in there very loud to make a scene. I was solo, sitting by myself. I’m pretty sure he would not have treated me like this if I was with friends or my husband. This guy is a true bully who is not man enough to take the criticism of a hair in his pasta or to pick on someone his own size.
Great food and atmosphere. Order the Tiramisu Martini. Best drink I've ever had.
Food its barley edible, pasta came in cold, mussells drenched in oil and pizza-one of worst I had in an italian restaurant. The service was awfall too, people barly speaking any english, bussers climing over you trying to grab somebody else's plate. Ahhhh....
Spent our wedding night dinner here just the two of us. Did not disappoint, great tasting dishes!
Listen, do yourself a favor and avoid this place altogether. Very low quality Italian food and service that equals the food. Actually, you would likely be more satisfied with a dish from Olive Garden. You'll always find the restaurant booked on weekends but keep in mind that this joint is in a tourist town, and the staff (including the chef) could care less about your enjoyment of a fine meal. If you just want to blow some money this is the place, and if you want a memorable meal you'll have to go elsewhere. A disappointment for sure...
Everything was delicious! We ordered the Greek salad, bresaola, pizza margarita and white truffle gnocchi.
We had no issues with the service--friendly and helpful. But food was acceptable (not bad, just not great)--maybe it was just an off-night in the kitchen
Truly disappointed, while the four cheese pizza is delightful and the Kobe truffle sandwich is great as well. I had the rack of lamb for my main course and it was over cooked twice; at 58 dlls it’s truly a shame. Good place for pizzas and pastas, like any Italian.
Good service and excellent food
We booked a few days in advance of our meal here. When we got to the restaurant for dinner, before the evening rush had picked up, we were seated at a table made for six people. The problem was, we reserved for eight. We asked politely if we could switch tables to the open 8 seat table next to us and we were refused. If you're going to call yourself a high end restaurant, and clearly charge high end prices, don't sardine can your patrons on tables too small and meant for smaller parties. We watched in disbelief as 30 minutes later, the true table for eight was filled. We just about had to put our plates on our laps as there was little room on our table. We felt cramped the entire time and made our visit to this restaurant memorable in an awful way. The food and service were ok, but not up to par with what we expected for the price.
Great service! Great food! If it matters to you about my credibility, I'm from northern Italy. Good joob!
Don't mention Kobe on your menu if you aren't authorized to sell because it means you don't have it.... You do not have a certificate of of authenticity and are not listed as an authorized seller of Kobe on kobe-niku.jp which is the official Kobe association. Wagyu is not Kobe.
Delicious! Warm environment, friendly staff. A great evening, thank you!
I don’t know what planet all the negative reviewers are living on but this is by far the best Italian food I’ve ever eaten and given I’m from Chicago, I’ve had my share of upscale Italian food and nothing beats la bottega! If I could recommend a dish, get the ravioli :)
This is so far the best dinner we've had in Vail. It's on the higher end but ohh so worth it. Try octopus for an appetizer! Trout also was phenomenal! My son and husband loved their pasta!
Food and service was excellent
Food was great, but they allowed a couple with a dog barking, and I mean barking on the patio NON STOP, and did say anything to them. People started to leave and they still did ask them to attend to their dog. I finally asked the couple to please pay attention to their poor neglected dog. It was terrible and like dogs! However I just don't understand how someone can be so oblivious to others and their own dog.
Very nice people must try
This is seriously some of the best Italian food you will ever have. The food is just down right amazing, and the hosts are equally amazing.
The service was so so, location is nice with the large open windows and right next to the street but the food was ehhhh. I had the trout and it was wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with spinach and a couple chunks of shrimp. It wasn’t seasoned very well but it was ok. It had potential so maybe an off day? The presentation was a little weird but the food wasn’t awful.
Great food and service
Warm and inviting. Good windows to watch the snow fall. Food very good .Open fired pizza. My favorite Italian destination.
An old favorite and it did not disappoint
Have you tried the Best truffle Gnocchi in the world? It's a haven. You must. Beef carpaccio is amazing, but those gnocchis... yes, you must.
Great food and service. Loved the cannoli desert
While the food is ok, this is the snootiest, most prepotent staff and service I’ve ever encountered. May I remind you that you never address the customer in any other way other than Friendly. Even if you think they’re wrong, if they’re not being aggressive in any way, you ALWAYS treat them with respect. And if there’s going to be some new rule you’ll like to implement then, for the love of God, put a sign up!! Never going back, not even worth a tip.
Middling Italian fare in what is otherwise an area with a reputation for fine dining. Ate lunch on a whim. Had to wander around to find a hostess to seat us. Decor was charmingly rustic. Gluten-free noodles were available, though no other GF options were available. I ordered the spaghetti with meatball, and was disappointed to get a meal that tastes more akin to something I'd get at a chain restaurant. The noodles were not cooked to order; I got my plate in five minutes, noodles clumping together and just reheated. The sauce was a thoroughly uninspired marinara that tasted like a FSA delivery truck dropped it off on the way to a grade school cafeteria. The meatballs, too, were an overboiled beef puree that had been shaped into a sphere. It did not look or taste like fresh ground beef. I am not opposed to expensive food. I dislike it when food is overpriced. My wife's light salad and my spaghetti came to $44. That's an expensive tab for a meal that left me feeling unsatisfied.
I took my wife and young kids here for an early dinner after snowboarding. The restaurant is split up with seating available in the bar, at the pizza counter facing the stone oven, or traditional table service at one of several dining rooms. We sat at the pizza counter to warm up and watch the extremely busy cooks work their magic. My whole family enjoyed the lively atmosphere and engaging staff. The food was excellent and served quickly. We had salads, pizza and dessert which were all prepared right in front of us. The kids liked everything and you could tell it was allade from scratch. My wife and I especially enjoyed the Greek salad and spicy sausage pizza. The prices are relatively inexpensive for Vail as long as you avoid the more esoteric options on the wine list. I will definately return next time I am in Vail.
Good food. Great location in Vail Village. Super friendly service and cool spot with people watching patio and warm interior that feels like many spots you’ll see in Italy. Pizza is traditional Neapolitan preparation. Seafood pasta, carbonara and gemelli w tomato cream sauce were all excellent. Lamb entree was small portion and over cooked but that’s the only ding.
Food was ok (we’ve had better), but we were shocked with the way the waitress and the manager treated us. They talked to us in a way which could be considered as discrimination. The only place in Vail where they “supposedly” can’t take mexican’s official voters id nor my passport’s id photo which I have on my phone. They said this rule had been implemented a week ago in a meeting. They didn’t even have a sign nor a rule book making it official. And while we respect that, the way they talked to us was inexcusable. The waitress and the manager were both extremely rude. We just asked for the check, obviously left no tip and walked out of there before wanting to press charges for discrimination. Ironically enough I’m writing this while having a nice cup of wine still in Vail in a restaurant where they DID accept my voters id and my passport picture and shockingly with very nice waiters.
Gourmet and traditional Italian, excellent and fair $ for Vail, CO.
Meatballs were cold, and we were seated in a room without a working heater. Bread was stale. This is the only bad meal we have had in Vail.
